2. To develop and implement empowerment programmes.
3. To use all types of communication platforms, especially the Internet and social media, to advocate and lobby for change.
About Us
The Voice of Disability was founded in 2010 by Fadila Lagadien, a disabled woman.
Fadila Lagadien, a quadriplegic wheelchair user, sustained a spinal cord injury (broken neck) in a car accident years ago. Since then, she has been a tireless advocate for disability rights, serving in various capacities and contributing to South Africa’s disability legislation. Her life’s mission is to ensure the equitable integration of disabled people into mainstream society.
What We Will Address
Our team boasts extensive experience in both the private and public sectors, as well as business management. We aim to share this knowledge with our readers and members.
We primarily focus on disability issues affecting women, though we welcome discussions on a broader spectrum. Key topics include:
- Disability awareness
- Personal assistance
- Employment
- Education
- Accessibility and universal design
Benefits to the Reader
As a reader or member, you will receive regular, first-hand insights and expert advice on these issues. We will also provide opportunities for you to ask questions and connect with others through our WhatsApp group.
The power of peer support lies in shared experiences. Our community offers authentic support from individuals who truly understand the challenges you face, unlike theoretical advice from those without lived experience. This aligns with the core principle of “Nothing About Us Without Us.”
